chicken noodle soup or some other kind of soup or you could all have ice cream and smoothies
Soup, baked custard, yogurt, small curd cottage cheese, milkshake, anything you don't have to chew---I can sympathize. It's been years ago for me, but braces hurt like heck!

Everyone can eat soup and baked custard. Yum!
Soup is always good

Mac and cheese

Mashed potatos or baked potato

Scrambled eggs and oatmeal (you can make waffles/pancakes and bacon for rest of family)
this sounds like a pretty good recipe to try

Ingredients

* 2 teaspoons canola oil

* 1 large onion

* 4 cups diced cooked potatoes

* 1 cup chopped lean corned beef brisket

* 1/2 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth

* 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

* Salt %26amp; freshly ground black pepper

* 4 large eggs

Cooking Instructions

1. In a large cast-iron skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onion and sauté until it starts to brown, 5 to 8 minutes. Add potatoes and cook, stirring, until they brown in spots and become crusty, about 8 minutes more. Stir in corned beef and broth and cook, scraping up any browned bits, until liquid is absorbed, 5 to 8 minutes. Add parsley and season with salt and pepper.

2. Meanwhile, fill a large skillet with 2 inches salted water and bring to a gentle simmer. Break eggs, one at a time, onto a saucer and slide into the simmering water. Poach eggs until set to desired firmness, 4 to 5 minutes.

3. Divide hash among 4 plates. Place eggs on top of hash.

Two of my kids are currently in braces so I know how challenging it can be to find something that they can eat; soup is usually a great choice. One recipe my kids like is:

Loaded Potato Soup

6 medium to large potatoes

1/3 cup butter

2/3 cups flour

6 cups milk (skim or whole, whatever your family drinks)

1 teaspoon chicken bouillon (I prefer to use “Better Than Bouillon” chicken base. It’s concentrated stock found in a small jar in the same aisle as chicken broth. Refrigerate after opening)

2 green onions

1 cup sour cream (non-fat or low fat is ok to use)

2 cups crisp bacon, crumbled

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Peel and cube potatoes into bite size pieces. Place cubed potatoes in a 3 quart stockpot and cover with water. Cook potatoes until fork tender. Drain potatoes. Meanwhile, melt butter in a large pot over medium low heat. Add flour and stir until mixture is blended and bubbly. Gradually add milk to the butter-flour mixture, stirring constantly until thickened. Add bouillon, green onions and cooked potatoes, sour cream and bacon. Just before serving, reduce heat and add cheese. Stir well and serve.

Serves 8-10 (if you have leftovers and reheat this soup the next day, it may be too thick (the potatoes will do that!). Just add enough milk to thin and adjust the seasonings.

Make Ahead Tips: Potatoes can be cooked ahead of time, drained and stored in the refrigerator in a sealed container. Potatoes can also be peeled and cubed a few hours ahead, but they then must be covered with water to prevent them from turning brown.

I would leave out the bacon and green onions for the person with braces and let the rest of the family sprinkle these items on top.

Good Luck!

Crystal
