I am not a good cook and my mother never cooked anything as a child. I want to fix my family something good, but not expensive. I really don't care about it being healthy.ThanksI need some good dinner recipes?
Fajita's are an easy favorite! They can be made with chicken or beef. You will need: Chicken breast or beef steak, tortillas, onions, red and green peppers, lettuce, sour cream, salsa, and any other topping you would like. Cut the meat into long, thin strips, fry it with a little bit of oil, season with salt, pepper, and cumin (if desired) stir occasionally. After the meat is browned on the outside add the peppers and onions, they should also be cut in strips. Make sure it looks like you have 2-3 times as much peppers and onions as meat, because they shrink when the cook. Toss them in the fying pan and continue to cook and stir untill meat is cooked all the way through. Heat tortillas in the oven, on a grittle, or in the Microwave (only about 8 seconds each). Allow your family to serve themselves.
Personal preferrences:
I would use a cast Iron frying pan, and serve it right from that, so that the food stays piping hot.
Heat tortillas immediatelly before serving.
Put lettuce, sour cream, and salsa on your tortilla, for an excellent fajita experience!
Dice up some of the peppers and onions, add crushed garlic, saute and add a can of black beans and goya sazon for an excellent side.
White or yellow rice also makes a great side.I need some good dinner recipes?
I agree with the fajitas idea as well. They're one of my personal favourites - i enjoy chicken ones with lettuce, grated cheddar cheese, sour cream, salsa, and italian dressing. yum yum
Here is another yummy idea:
Shepherd's pie
(the easy version)
Youll need:
-2 lbs ground beef, or more if you have a big family
-package of frozen peas/corn/baby carrots
-1 box instant mashed potato flakes (Idahoan brand is good)
-1 can cream of mushroom soup
-1/2 an onion
Brown the beef in a skillet, drain off excess grease. Dice the onion very finely, add to beef and stir until onions are soft. Add 1 can cream of mushroom soup, stir until all ingredients are mixed and smooth.
In a large casserole dish, add the beef to the bottom and spread evenly.
Toss the frozen veggie, i use peas, into a microwaveable bowl, add a tiny bit of water, and toss in the microwave for five minutes (stir halfway).
Meanwhile, make about 12 servings worth of instant mashed poatoes - directions are on the box. All they require is milk, salt, and butter!
Potatoes and peas should finish at around the same time. Spread the peas into the casserole dish on top of the ground beef/soup mixture.
Top with mashed potatoes, spread evenly.
Sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
Toss in oven at 400 until cheese is melted and the whole thing is nice and hot.
Voila
your family will love it
mine goes crazy for it, and if you want you could easily substitute real potatoes for instant, all you do is boil the potatoes, skins taken off, until tender. Then add milk, salt and butter and mash.
:)
Hope that helped
