Most recipes are contain what I would call ';unusual'; items when it comes to convincing my son to eat it (i.e. orzo, pine nuts, spinach, etc.) - where's a 'meat %26amp; potatoes' kind of recipe? With Ketchup if my son could choose :)Where's best place to find ';kid friendly'; dinner recipes?

Your imagination! no one knows your son better than you do! Make meat loaf, make the mashed potatos into mountains...Make Shepard's pie ( meat, veg and potatoe) and tell him it is an English dish. When my kids were about 6 or 7 years old, I began telling them that: '; Well when you grow up, you will like a lot of different things. That is part of being a grown up. I like foods from ALL over the world, and so will you.'; ( Yes, its brainwashing, but it also gives your son permission to know his palette will change as he gets older, and YOU the ';cool'; role model, already like foods from all over the world.'; As far as recipes , try www.foodnetwork.com. Take out any ';weird'; ingredients, and try: Chinese chicken chow mein, middle eastern meat kabobs with vegetables, South American Beef Stew....Let your son ';feel'; like he is experiencing the world while you gently integrate him into more ';exotic'; flavors. ( all the recipes I mentioned, are basically meat, veg and noodles)
There are a couple sites listed below. The 1st is for kids with specific needs.
The 2nd gives you healthy menus and recipes for all kids.

Take a look at your good, old-fashioned, Betty Crocker cookbook! If you don't have one on hand, go to the TasteofHome website for some great, down to earth, recipes.
I like this site very much, for my hungry little ones:
http://www.kidapprovedmeals.com/
you could look around at campbells.com or kraft.com. Almost all of those recipes use regular items and most of them taste pretty good.
May not be what your looking for...but I think would be 'kid-friendly'.

';Corny Beanie Weenies.';
(from a country preacher in Mississippi鈥ife %26amp; 2 teenage sons)
Mix one can of good baked beans
We use a good sized can of beans (14-16 ounces, I think) and
get a kind that we like (maybe with brown sugar, onion, and bacon).
There are several kinds of good baked beans.
and a package of Oscar Meier Weiners (all sliced up).
with a can of whole kernel corn (drained)
Any way, heat up these three ingredients, and serve with brown bread
(maybe toasted ?) and a glass of milk.
It doesn't get any easier than this, and is suprisingly good!
P.S鈥?.Might put ingredients in a casserole dish and top with corn muffin mix.
(This is another recipe I鈥檝e not tried yet.)

POT ROAST
Your choice of beef or pork(to fit crock-pot)
1 pkg. dry Ranch dressing mix
1 pkg. dry Italian dressing mix
1 pkg. dry Brown Gravy mix
1 cup water
Put beef in pot.
Mix together all the dry mixes鈥?then add water 鈥our over meat and cover %26amp; cook on high 4-6 hours.
Until meat is tender.
The first time I made it I didn鈥檛 have the Italian Dressing mix鈥?so I added a pkg. of Onion Soup Mix鈥?I have to say I liked that better.
If you use more water you might want to add more Brown Gravy mix鈥?to make a thicker sauce. Was gonna add
potatoes and carrots鈥ut never got around to it.
